Our sexual energy can be understood as sacred energy, or sacred fire. It is the energy of God, the very energy of creation. It is the energy that blesses us with offspring as children as well as off-spring of the mind and heart that come forth as creations of the Spirit. It is the creative energy that brings forth art, culture, education, science, technology, and personal fulfillment. It strength-ens us, heals us physically, and enables us to bring forth our personal talents and creative genius....
God gives us free will, so we have the freedom to choose how we use the sacred fire and our sexual energies.... When we first realize that we have been misusing our energy in ways and degrees that are detrimental, it may be easy to be critical of ourselves. But the misuse is understandable if we develop such habits when we‘re not aware that they are problematic, when we don‘t know why or how to change them, and when they are reinforced, indeed encouraged, in the culture all around us.
When we have a greater understanding, we can rejoice in our new knowledge and be patient with ourselves as we go through the process of changing those habits. With the realization that sexual habits are a matter of energy flow, we can experiment with changing that energy flow. We have the opportunity to redirect, raise, and expand the energy, the light, within us. Gaining self-mastery in this way can be an exciting and rewarding experience. Just think what a difference it can make for you when you take charge of the marvelous light of God that flows through you every day!
