Pearls of Wisdom

Vol. 57 No. 1 - Beloved Gautama Buddha - January 1, 2014

Reinforcement to All
Who Would Be the Buddha

The eyes of the little child gaze expectantly and with wonderment upon beholding the face of the angel of the Presence. Sometimes you become that angel incarnate. Sometimes you represent the angel of deliverance to a soul in the way of life who for the moment has lost the way, who looks to you to take his hand to help him find it again.

You are the instrument often for the Lord's answer to prayer when souls cry out for succor, for light and warmth and truth—truth, above all, for which they hunger. Sometimes an invisible emissary of the Brotherhood is not enough. Oh yes, we send our angels from Shamballa. And we ourselves come often and we kneel at the side of the little child who kneels at bedtime to offer his prayer unto the Lord, and sometimes these prayers resemble a list to Santa Claus: “Dear Lord, give me this and this and this.”

Is it the fault of the children? Or is it the fault of a society where acquisition is a way of life and happiness consists in that which people possess—to acquire wealth, to acquire things? And so children are taught that these are the treasures of life. Even they, though they pray for things, are given inspiration and virtue. For the angel of the Presence and the Christ Self, ever beholding the face of the Father, releases unto them the prayer that comes from the soul, often not uttered by the lips, the soul's longing for Mother and for the Buddhic light.

I would that you would pray that you might be the instrument of answer to prayer. Are you not this already, bringing joy and dominion and the teaching and the knowledge of the masters to so many? But I say, pray again, my precious one. Pray again that you might perceive the needs of those around you.

The Story of the Good Physician

Souls come because they lack. They that are whole need not the physician, but they that are sick. And what of the ones who know not that they are sick? They need to be tricked, like the good physician tricked his sons in the story that I told my disciples about the sons who had taken poison, sons who were then sick. Some of them knew that they were sick; some knew it not.1

The physician gave the antidote. Those who knew that they were sick took the antidote. Those who knew not that they were sick saw no need to take it and so they remained diseased, ignorant in their disease.

The physician was wise. He said to them, “I will leave you this remedy. It will remain with you, and if you ever have a need for it, then take it.” And then the physician departed into a far country and he sent word back to his sons that he had died.

The sons, upon learning this, thought to themselves, “What a tragedy that we did not come to know Father more while he was here.” And then one remembered that he had left the remedy. And they said, “He must have known that we needed this remedy. This is why he has left it with us.” And so they took the remedy. They were made whole, whereupon the physician returned, much to the rejoicing of his sons.

Is it ever so that the teacher must depart in order for the teaching to be appreciated? Is it ever so that those who are sick know not that they are sick, know not that they need the teaching and the Way and the Law and the light and the Word? Must there be such a great distance between the teacher and the remedy before the remedy is accepted? Will you wait until the ascended masters are less available, when the cycles have turned and options for initiation are not so available here in the planes of Mater?

That which is available becomes common, easily obtainable. Mankind wait. They wait another day and another day, and their postponement is part of the lie of procrastination, of the separation of the soul from the Spirit of the Living One.

The Practical Teaching I Gave Twenty-Five Hundred Years Ago

I am Gautama of the flame of Shamballa, of the flame of Maitreya and Sanat Kumara. I come on a very special mission to these islands. I come. I return to my sons and daughters after having been away many centuries. Much distance in the form of time and space has separated this close contact. And for some peculiarity of the human consciousness, distance in this case has lent enchantment to the view.

Now then, view, through the All-Seeing Eye, the Buddha of the Self. View also the flame of Shamballa and our retreat.2 See also the angels of the Buddha, the jewels of the Buddha, the flowers, the perfume, the herbs, the spices. All of these in the shops of the Buddha are symbolical of the mastery of the petals of the chakras.

You may read these stories that I told so long ago. They are in the collected writings of the Buddha that are published even today. They must be read symbolically. They must be read with understanding and, above all, with the ascended masters' teachings as a basis.

Some of you have thought that there was a discrepancy between the teaching that I gave twenty-five hundred years ago and the teaching which I give today. In those days it was dangerous for individuals to engage in a metaphysical speculation or in a hierarchy or in a cosmos of beings beyond themselves. For they were emerging from the traditions of total dependence upon a priesthood in the state of decay and degeneration. I sought, then, to give them the very essentials, as you would give to a child the very basics of mathematics. And therefore I was silent on the point of the soul and the Spirit, on the point of life after death and immortality, lest my disciples should take the teaching as an excuse for their acceptance of the lie of procrastination or of the lie of predetermination.

Rather it was my role, outlined by Lord Sanat Kumara and the Lords of Karma, to present a very practical teaching based upon a code of ethics, a code of morality, an eightfold path, all the while teaching them the law of desire and of all of suffering that is caused by desire, that there is a way out of desire, that the desire can be transformed in the transmutative action that is the daily ritual of following the Eightfold Path.4

Progressive Revelation

In this day and age, through the evolution of consciousness, the Brotherhood has released to the chelas the understanding of the soul and its potential to realize God, the knowledge of the I AM Presence and the violet flame. These are dispensations which could not be given in that era, given the then current evolution of those who were a part of the mandala, in the East, of the Buddha.

Progressive revelation, then, becomes the issue as well as the need of the hour. And those who are a part of the Christian church who deny any such thing as progressive revelation have muzzled the mouth of the ox.4 They have forbidden God to speak. They have said to God: “You have said all there is to say, God. Now you must be silent. You cannot speak anymore. You cannot break the laws of our doctrine and our dogma. You cannot break the confines of scripture. Our traditions are that revelation is complete, that prophecy is complete. And therefore, we will close our ears and hearts, and we will no longer accept the teaching of the Almighty One.”

These worship a dead god, a god that cannot move. Like a statue immovable, this god must be silent and becomes, then, the object of manipulation by the human consciousness. This god, then, is not allowed to transcend himself or to transmute himself. Have you thought of God transmuting himself?

Well, if that represents to you a conundrum, then simply look at the orchids and the lilies and the flowers around you. Do they not transform themselves day by day, going from the bud to the full flower, to the recycling of the energy and the rebirth once again? Will we deny to God that which he gives freely to the creation? If he allows man and woman to daily go forth in the process of transformation, being reborn and dying again unto the rebirth, can God himself also not be allowed to do this?

Speaking, then, of the manifestations of God that come forth from the unformed—the Undifferentiated Suchness5 of Being that is without attribute—consider, then, that the Father, the Son, the Spirit, the Mother and all of the hierarchies of the Sun are aspects of God which are continually in transformation. If you could contemplate the movement of gases which comprise your own sun in this system of worlds, how they move and how they turn, you would see primordial energy in a constant state of flux, and you would gain a new perspective of God’s consciousness.

So then, in each two-thousand-year cycle, in each century, the Lords of Karma and the Cosmic Council of this system of worlds do determine what revelations regarding the mastery of energy are to be given to the current lifewave. There is, then, no conflict when, after a thousand or ten thousand years, an ascended master speaks giving a teaching that he did not give when he was embodied.

Many of you understand these principles and yet I must cite them, as it were, for the record. For many souls who lack understanding who will one day receive this teaching will be greatly unburdened by an understanding of the true meaning of progressive revelation. Progressive revelation builds on the foundations of truth. But sometimes when truth is stated so simply, it is difficult to understand when later the complex explanations of that which was simple are given. Understanding, then, planes of consciousness and the mathematics of a cosmos demands humility and a waiting upon the flame of the Lord.

You Can Carry World Karma with the Avatars

Let us, then, look to the chelas to be gods in manifestation, to answer mankind's prayer for answers. They seek answers to a world in chaos. They seek answers when loved ones suddenly make the transition. They seek answers to the problems which they create out of their own darkness and death consciousness; and self-concern is the primary foundation for the problems in all of life.

This messenger has once said that to waste time solving problems is a great desecration. For if she would continue to do the work of God, God himself would solve every problem. This is an observation which I myself communicated to her. For I saw that the many problems which were upon her, upon her organization, her staff and many students were consuming her time and her space, which ought to be, even now, more greatly devoted to the setting forth of the teaching.

And therefore, I made plain this very simple truth that if you will surrender daily all of your problems unto God and unto me especially—for I long to take from you those problems which only the God within you can solve—if, then, these would be surrendered, then there would be opportunity to serve the Lord. And the Lord, in turn, would serve not only the messenger but all of those individuals who come daily and hourly for solutions to life's problems.

And so it is, those who have the greatest problems are those who have the greatest levels of self-concern. Then of course there is the life of the true teacher, the avatar, the bodhisattva, whose self-concern is concern regarding the entire conglomerate self of humanity. These bodhisattvas, then, take upon themselves, into their chakras, the burdens of world karma. And therefore, they are not to be condemned when they are beset with problems, nor should you point the finger in judgment and say, “Ah, I see that one has so many problems. It must be his self-concern.”

You must appeal to me, to Gautama, to enable you to discern when it is time to move in to assist those souls and to say, “My brother, my sister, I see that burden on your back. I see that is quite a load you are carrying. May I help you? My burden is not so heavy this day and, therefore, I can help you make your burden light.”

And then you will find, precious ones, that another day will come when your burden is very intense, almost more than you can bear. And you will hear a kind voice say, “May I help you today?” And you will remember the words of Christ. You will remember his words, “My yoke is easy; my burden is light. Come ye, all ye that are burdened, heavy laden. I will give you rest. I will give you rest.”6

And so these are the words of the Christ within you in this hour, and it is the declaration of the Christ that the burden of your karma can be transmuted by the alchemy of the Holy Spirit and can become the immensity of light.

How do you think Hercules7 can carry the earth on his shoulders? You look upon Hercules, ancient symbol of strength. Here is an Elohim carrying the earth. You look at him and you see the earth. Understand that he carries the earth because his vision of the earth is a vision of a sphere of light, and therefore you, too, can carry world karma with the avatars.

You can bear the burden for the Lords of Karma. And in bearing that burden, you can stay the hour of cataclysm, of economic collapse, of the weighing down of the governments of the nations. You can carry the burden of world karma and stem the tide, hold back the oncoming dark night of planetary soul initiation, while the Lords of Karma raise up the little ones, the little children, while the Lords of Karma, too, expose the misdemeanors and the misuses of the sacred fire by the fallen ones.

A Betrayer of the Light of the Christ

I will isolate for you this day one of these fallen ones who has risen to power in government, and that one is numbered among the fallen angels who yet follow in the traditions of Lucifer, though he be no more in the awareness of the consciousness of God. That one, then, is Pierre Trudeau, who figures in Canada as the focal point for a great deal of intrigue, international intrigue that is serving yet to divide the United States and Canada by hatred, by malice, by envy and jealousy and by his corroboration with the Chinese Communists and the Cuban Communists.

I point this out because it is the nature of the Lords of Karma now and then to bring to the attention of the student body those individuals who are betraying the light of the Christ in the nations. And therefore, by the power of the spoken Word and by the energy of my office, I isolate and I expose the Liar and the lie. So let them also be judged this day, for this is the fiat of the Lord of the World. And let the students of the light ratify this fiat by calling forth the All-Seeing Eye of God and calling forth the circle and sword of Astrea and the sword of Michael to cut free the children of light in Canada from all misuses of government, of their land and of their resources, and from the attempt by the fallen ones to make of Canada an open door for the entrance of further darkness over the borders that are for the protection of the flame of love of the Elohim of Heros and Amora, whose retreat is at Lake Winnipeg.8

Now then, let also the messenger consider the need of these children of light. It is time, and certainly time overdue, for a seminar to be held in Canada and for the clearing of centuries of records of black magic that has been practiced against these souls, who love freedom and are certainly of the light of America and of Saint Germain, as are the people of the United States. Let us, then, continue the clearing of the hemisphere and of the continents and of the islands for the energies that are rising—rising in the flame of Mother, rising in the flame of victory.

Opportunity to Become the Buddha

I am Gautama, and my thousand-petaled lotus flame is a torch of wisdom that I have consecrated to the victory of the wisdom of the sons and daughters of God in this age. And therefore I am the sponsor of Summit University,9 of ascended master schools of light. I am the sponsor, with Maitreya, of your initiations in the path of wisdom.

Let all who have the conviction of the flame within heart and soul and mind avail themselves in this age of the opportunity to become the Buddha. For this is the moment of the open door when the Cosmic Council has allowed me to extend my flame as reinforcement to all who would be the Buddha. This dispensation has a certain duration, and I will not tell you its duration lest you procrastinate your attainment. At the conclusion of its duration, souls of light will be required once again to find the Buddhic consciousness without the compelling light of the Presence of one who has attained.

In the invincible light of Mother, I seal you with the Angel Deva of the Jade Temple, who has arrived to minister unto you for the healing of consciousness of all compromise with truth.

In the flame of a heart chakra of a planet, I AM Siddhartha Gautama, in you Sumedha.10

“The Summit Lighthouse Sheds Its Radiance o’er All the World to Manifest as Pearls of Wisdom.”

This dictation by Gautama Buddha was delivered by the Messenger of the Great White Brotherhood Elizabeth Clare Prophet on Sunday, June 13, 1976, in Maui, Hawaii.

1. The story of the good physician and his sons is recounted in the sixteenth, or Juryo, chapter of the Lotus Sutra, a discourse that some maintain was given by the Buddha toward the end of his life.

2. The etheric retreat of Shamballa, presided over by Gautama Buddha, is located over the Gobi Desert. In 1981 Gautama established an extension of this retreat, called the Western Shamballa, in the etheric octave over the Heart of the Inner Retreat at the Royal Teton Ranch. For more on Shamballa and the Western Shamballa, see Mark L. Prophet and Elizabeth Clare Prophet, The Masters and Their Retreats, pp. 467-70, 490-91; available at www.TSL.org/Bookstore or by calling 1-800-245-5445 or 406-848-9500.

3. In Gautama Buddha's first sermon following his enlightenment, he taught about the Eightfold Path and the law of desire, or the Four Noble Truths. The Four Noble Truths state that life is dukkha (“suffering”), the cause of suffering is inordinate desire, freedom from suffering is in the attainment of nirvana, the way to this liberation is through the Eightfold Path. The Eightfold Path gives eight precepts for right living: Right Understanding (or Right Views), Right Aspiration (or Right Thought), Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration (or Right Absorption of God).

4.Muzzled the mouth of the ox. Deut. 25:4; I Cor. 9:9; I Tim. 5:18.

5. Undifferentiated Suchness. In Buddhism, the term Suchness (Tathatā) is used to convey a reality that is beyond description. This reality is the Absolute—the ultimate, unconditioned and true nature of all things.

6. Matt. 11:28-30.

7. Hercules was the most famous hero of Greek mythology, known for his exceptional courage and strength. In artistic portrayals, he is sometimes shown carrying the earth on his shoulders, which the messengers have described as earth's karmic weight. The origin of Greek mythological figures is the distant soul memory of the great beings of light who walked with mankind during past golden ages. In fact, Hercules is millennia older than Greek mythology. When God commanded this solar system to be formed, it was Hercules who summoned the mighty Elohim, builders of form, to come forth and precipitate the divine plan of the Solar Logoi. As Hercules is the Elohim of the first ray, mankind can call upon him for strength and protection.

8. The retreat of Heros and Amora, Elohim of the third ray, is located in the etheric realm near Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada. From this retreat, Heros and Amora focus the energies of the heart chakra of the planet. For more on the retreat of Heros and Amora, see The Masters and Their Retreats, pp. 442-44. For ordering information, see note 2 above.

9. Summit University (SU) is a modern-day mystery school founded in 1971 under the direction of the messengers Mark L. Prophet and Elizabeth Clare Prophet. SU currently holds summer retreats at the Royal Teton Ranch in Montana and seminars throughout the year in locations around the world. In the spring of 2013, Summit University inaugurated the SU Online School of Theology and Spiritual Studies, with three major areas of study, each leading to a certificate of completion. These include the Department of Ministerial Studies, the Department of Leadership Studies and the Department of General Studies. For a schedule of upcoming retreats, seminars and online courses as well as registration information, go to www.SummitUniversity.org or call 1-800-245-5445 or 406-848-9500.

10. Sumedha was a previous embodiment of Gautama, whose story is recounted in the jataka tales, or birth stories of the Buddha. The story of Sumedha is the story of a soul becoming the Buddha—the soul of Gautama and the soul of anyone who accepts their God-ordained responsibility and destiny to be the Buddha. This story is also recounted in Quietly Comes the Buddha, by Elizabeth Clare Prophet.
