Develop the Merciful Heart
as a Chalice of the Holy Spirit

Pentecost Address 1991

Part 1

From out the highest octaves of light I descend! I am your Lord the Maha Chohan. I am in the purest flower of the Holy Spirit that I would unfold in your heart in this hour together.

Draw your garments of light about you, lest the ill winds of the karmic tide tear from you that which is not secured, fastened in the centers of being. Weave the garment well. Wear it well, that your soul might slip into the cleavage of the rock or betwixt the octaves where angels would take you in time of trouble or danger.

I am the direction of the Holy Spirit unerring. I am present in communion as you commune with God and with me. Take me to your heart and I shall take you to mine. Study the works I have delivered. Study the saints who have known me. Know me through those in whom the stream of the Holy Spirit is ever flowing as a River of Life. Go to the fount and drink. But drink all—sweet water for the sweetness of heaven and bitter for the cup of karma thou must drink, thou must drink.

Consider and reconsider all decisions in your life based on the single principle: “Will I develop the merciful heart? Will I develop the merciful heart or will I pass on as the comfortable stone that does not will to be broken?”

The decision is not “What is in it for me?” but “What is the initiation? Have I failed this test in the past? Do I desire to pass it in this round? Shall I tarry with this one or that one because I must develop the merciful heart and because that one, this one does need mercy?”

I tell you, the merciful heart is an abundant chalice that can never be filled with the Holy Spirit, for it can contain even the limitless flow of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, if you seek this day the key and to know why you have not known this fire, this fire of the Holy Spirit in your life, this quickening of the mind, these gifts that I bestow, I bestow carefully, carefully and not without merit by those upon whom they are bestowed—if, then, you observe that that fire is missing from your life, begin at the beginning.

Let the chalice be fashioned as a tulip cup of purple and violet and pink. Go about this world, then, dispensing mercy as the intense love—love that is compassion, love that does forgive, love that does bathe another, that does wash the wounds and cleanse the heart and purify the soul.

To minister in mercy’s name is truly to win the attention of all those adepts who serve on the third and the fourth ray with me in the fullness of the Holy Ghost and to thereby develop the balance of the seven [rays] and the five [secret rays], and on and on. Beloved, what is in it for you is surely, surely the hastening of the day of your liberation from all karma.

Do you see, beloved, when you have the quality of mercy and it is a sun shining in the heart, then it will shine upon all and never be withheld? For the merciful heart is a flowing stream that bathes all life, that dissolves the force and forces of anti-mercy. Live in the cosmic egg of mercy and know therefore how mercy itself, as the seventh-ray attribute containing all of the qualities of the violet flame, is the shortest distance between you and the getting of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit.

How about, then, starting with one? Well, you see, beloved, it is just as difficult to earn one as it is to earn them all. For if you have that quality of light, that quality of God within you in abundance, then you will have one and all. And if you do not have that quality, the gate is shut and you will have none.

Seek early the transfer of light from the heart of the living Christ Jesus. Seek the healing of the soul, if not the body, at the altar of healing on Wednesday, for there does Jesus come.1 There does he come to extend to you, if you will but perceive your own need, even those increments of fire, elements of consciousness which, because they are totally lacking, you do not miss. Therefore, you know not that you are sick and think you are well.

Search the soul. Search the scriptures. Search the akashic records. Search your own life. Search your own eyes as you look for a light and a spark that you do not find, that you do not find when you look in the glass.

Mirror the Holy One of God. The Holy One of God is that one Christ, only begotten, whose body is broken for you each one. This is your Lord. May you become that mirror.

These are the footsteps. These are the footsteps. They have been recounted before. Why have you not progressed? [Or] have you? Some have; some have not. Yet I say, dispensers of mercy are ye all. Come, then, with your pots filled with liquidfire violet flame. Come with many pots. Bring all of your pots. Bring all of your vessels of consciousness, all of your compartments, all of the occupations you have occupied. Bring them all. Fill acres with all of your pots of every size and dimension. Fill acres and then fill the pots with the violet flame. Become dispensers of mercy.

Now, beloved, suppose the Lord of Mercy, the LORD God, the Lord of the Sabbath does say unto you: “I give you one thousand vessels of mercy for a lifetime. You will dispense them to those who will multiply mercy and bring back to you the multiplication thereof. Choose wisely, for you shall pay for every pot of mercy that is squandered. But you shall have the increase as you share that pot with those whom you have taught, whom you have prepared, whom you will now trust to receive this pot of mercy.”

Thus, you will grow and your causal body will grow as those to whom you give it also give the increase. And they shall give back to you the increase and they too, then, shall know the tie to the Maha Chohan, the tie to the Lord of Mercy.

I would place you this day in the place, therefore, of teacher, shepherd, master, guru. Now see the responsibility upon you. Should you give to one whose garments are moth-eaten, full of holes;2 to another whose aura is a sieve; to another who, for want of balance, cannot hold harmony for an excess of three minutes? Beloved, you should suffer loss, for that precious liquid fire would go into the darkness and blackness and be swallowed up by those discarnates who have no tie to the God of Mercy.

I can assure you, beloved, that it would not take you very long in this position to know that sympathy has no place in the court of divine justice and divine mercy. Therefore, know that God, who sits upon his throne this day, and Christ, who sits upon the throne within your heart, do adjudicate your life wisely, not only for your enlightened self-interest but also so that you do not make further karma by the misuse of a thousand pots of mercy’s flaming-fire liquid light.

To become the custodian of such a gift of the riches of the seventh ray, you will then learn that to have the merciful heart you must first transmute all vibrations of human sympathy. And by this I mean agreement with the human condition. This is a subtle, a most subtle vibration, where you incline your head and say: “Well, I can surely understand that state of the human consciousness. I can surely empathize with it, for I have been there myself.”

Well, if you do not watch out, you will be there again! For all it does take is to gaze upon that state and to somehow sense the need to compromise on behalf of that one who somehow has allowed himself to drag his garments in the mud of human self-attention [and] selfishness in the affairs of the heart, in the human sense of the word—the one who will not recognize that there must be a sternness as the fire of Serapis Bey.

For all of the hordes of darkness will rise up to steal one soul of light from the victory. And they will pull that one down also by sympathy and the sympathetic gaze of a thousand entities looking through the eyes of one tool of the sinister force with that knowing look that says: “Come with me. I understand. I will take you and make you comfortable. I will help you lick your wounds.”

Yes, it is the perversion of the quality of mercy. It is the perversion of the flame of the Holy Spirit. And I would have you to know the sternness of my office and of the Holy Ghost upon you, as it is the sternness of Serapis Bey. I would have you know that there is no other way to cut the tie with the human consciousness than to cut it! And it must be cut by a mighty sword, the sword that is sharp, two-edged and is the dividing of the way. There is no way to retain the companionship of the human consciousness and to receive the Holy Ghost!

Therefore, I have said it! Therefore, know it! Therefore, if you would have that all-power of the Holy Spirit, you must cease the dalliance in that desire to understand, while you pet your cat—to understand and agree with the human condition.

Because the Maha Chohan knows, because the seven chohans of the rays know that you will not receive one drop of the Holy Spirit by leaning in this direction, I come to you, I speak to you and I tell you, there is a choice to be made! There is no question about it! Fear not the choice!

If you would extend fire, if you would feel the fire coming forth from the heart of the messenger and if you would feel that fire coming forth from your heart, you must know that in the day you attain to the uncompromising victory you will have that cup of light and that power of healing. You will know the gift of healing. But until you cease your compromise, beloved, you will help no one.

And when you have a stance of noncompromise, all those who count will love you. All those who are saved by the hem of your garment, all those who will make it because you have stood and you still stand, they will love the light in you and the Christ in you. They will be the faithful ones, faithful unto the God for whom you have served even as a pane of glass.

O you who are proud in your paltry human achievements, be humble this day, I say! Be humbled by the staff of the Lord and know that those untutored hearts whose love is pure, whose hearts are a cauldron of sacred fire intensifying, reaching the world and holding the balance—they who sometimes do not even know what light they carry—are far beyond your paltry presentations of the pride of this world.

Know, then, that humility is not a doormat. It is the strength of the empowerment of the son, the daughter of God who does know: “God in me is the doer.” And yet there is a forcefulness, there is a power and a stance and a determination, all the while there is the effacement of self.

Walk in the footsteps of the messengers of God of all ages and of the ascended masters. Walk in the footsteps of those who have stood on the earth in the presence of God—such as Moses and Joshua, such as the apostles and great Lights out of the East. Walk, then, in that presence and know that to be endued with power from on high on Pentecost is surely the gift of all ages, and it shall not be returned lightly.

Therefore I say to you, the fire of Pentecost does descend upon the earth! And it is more than and apart from the individual gift. It is the fire of the judgment of the Holy Spirit. It is the fire that does separate darkness from light, reality from unreality. It is the fire, beloved, that shall be sealed in a sacred vial. And the strength of the contents of the vial and the size of the vial shall be determined by the present progress of the individual.

You might say, in one sense of the word, that the Holy Spirit does operate under the old dispensation, that of the balancing of 100 percent of karma.3 That is not to say that you cannot receive the Holy Spirit this day or a portion thereof, wherever you may be on the karmic ladder. But there are certain powers of the Holy Ghost that shall be entrusted to no man, no woman until that fulfillment is reached while they are yet in the flesh. Those, of course, who reach their ascension are then under another dispensation, e’en though they have not balanced the full 100 percent.

I come, beloved, to explain to you that the Holy Spirit is the all-power of heaven and earth. It is the all-power of God. It is unrestrained. And therefore, you may understand why it is not lightly given. Yes, elements may be given, and you may know wondrous souls who may be ignorant of the full doctrine of Jesus Christ who yet have such love that that love in itself could not withhold from them a portion.

But that very portion, beloved, does also cause the alchemy to come about. For where there is true love of the Holy Spirit manifest there is always enlightenment. And where enlightenment and love move together there is the drawing in of the power of God, and therefore those souls are tutored at inner levels by the Lord Christ himself.

And those who carry the spirit of fanaticism, who are full of ravening wolves,4 who are full of demons, who constitute the fundamentalist movements of this earth—whether in religion or politics or other societies—I tell you, those ones, beloved, have not the Spirit but the anti-Spirit. Beware of it! It is dangerous, even more dangerous than anti-Christ; for the anti-Spirit is the perversion of the Spirit of the living God.

And I call upon you, in the name of the Buddha of the Ruby Ray, to not forget to give a call on the ruby ray daily, for there be many who move against you, fallen ones who have found ways and means of using fohatic keys on the left-handed path to garner that momentum. And thus, this sin against the Holy Ghost, which is the sin of stealing that from the very altars of the lower etheric octaves, the heaven-world, that sin is not forgiven.5 And when the judgment does come, beloved, it does come truly, swiftly from the Almighty.
