Now Is the Time for Us to Make Our Ascension

In The Masters and the Path, C. W. Leadbeater tells us that Lord Maitreya bears a special Rod of Power during the yearly Wesak Festival.<1> He says that the rod is in some way a physical centre or fulcrum for the forces poured forth by the Planetary Logos, and was magnetized by Him millions of years ago, when ﬁrst He set the human life-wave in motion round our chain of globes. We are told that it is the physical sign of the concentration of the attention of the Logos, and that it is carried from planet to planet as that attention shifts—that where it is, that is for the moment the central theatre of evolution, and that when it leaves this planet for the next, our earth will sink into comparative inertia. Whether it is carried also to the non-physical planets we do not know, nor do we understand exactly the way in which it is used, nor the part which it plays in the economy of the world. It is kept usually in the custody of the Lord of the World at Shamballa, and so far as we know this Wesak Festival is the only occasion on which it ever leaves His care. It is a round bar of the lost metal orichalcum [a yellow metallic substance], perhaps two feet in length and about two inches in diameter, having at each end a huge diamond shaped into a ball with a cone projecting from it. It has the strange appearance of being always surrounded by ﬁre—of having an aura of brilliant yet transparent ﬂame. It is noteworthy that no one but the Lord Maitreya touches it during any part of the [Wesak] ceremony.<2>

When the Rod of Power Is Removed from the Earth, the Earth Will Sink into Inertia

What I have read to you is all very interesting but what has struck me most of all of this teaching is the concept that when this rod is removed from the earth, the earth will sink into comparative inertia. What does that tell us? What it tells me is that we are living in a moment in which the ascended masters have spoken to us and they have said that now is the time for us to make our ascension. They are as strong in pushing that action and that concept as they are in pushing the salvation of the world and the coming of the seventh root race.

Think how many times you have heard the masters tell you that this is the time and the place, this is the moment, this is the timetable for your ascension in the light; and if you decide not to take it in this round it may take many, many rounds before this opportunity comes around again. There are many ifs to our existence on earth. We should not simply say when we rise in the morning that the sun rises with us each and every day, the sun sets, the cycles of the planets make their rounds, all is in good manifestation and equilibrium.

What we must understand is that many of the ascended masters who serve with us today may not be serving with us tomorrow or two hundred or ﬁve hundred or two thousand years from now. They may be elsewhere. They may have concluded what they came to do on planet Earth—to help the people that they could help. And if the people are recalcitrant and this goes on for thousands of years (as it has indeed gone on for thousands of years) there does come a time when an individual master or a group of masters collectively may decide to go into another dimension of the planet or simply into another universe, such as retreating to the God Star, going into nirvana for many, many ages until the people should evolve and should have gone through much karma, much sorrow, much pain, ﬁnally to bend the knee and to say, “O Lord, my God, I am ready.”

Many of us here are from the fourth root race, the ﬁfth root race. Not too many of us are from the sixth root race—the younger souls who conﬁne themselves primarily to Jesus and to Christianity. And of course there is nothing wrong with this except for the fact that they do not embrace the violet ﬂame or the techniques that we have of dynamic decrees to deliver one of one's karma.

So, when you think of this word inertia and when you read Leadbeater's books, you see that he chooses his vocabulary very well. I think most of you are aware that the English of the last century is far better and far more fruitful and far more particular than the English that is being used today. Leadbeater is well trained, he is a scholar, and he is using the word inertia.

I take inertia in this sense to mean that everything is coming to a screeching halt. And I look at this not as the inertia of motion but as the inertia of rest.* [spfn: *inertia: the property of matter whereby it resists acceleration; the tendency of a body when at rest to remain at rest and when in motion to continue in motion unless acted on by an external force.] So if we sit in this inertia of rest, to what portion of our being or to whom do we run to ﬁnd one greater than ourselves who can deliver us from this planet at that moment when the rod is removed? And if the rod is removed and we are still here, will it take a million years for the rod to come back to this planet and to this system of worlds?

Personally, I do not take anything for granted. I do not assume that God will deliver me if I choose to do something three centuries from now on planet Earth and not take my ascension. I think we all have to focus on this particular teaching because it tells us what we've been told by the masters for so long. And please bear with me if I'm repeating my statements, because I think this statement is so all-important.

Do Not Deny God the Opportunity to Accord You Your Ascension

I have seen many people come to this community who are old souls but did not want to stay in the community because they did not want to bend the knee before Lord Maitreya, Lord Gautama Buddha, et cetera. They knew better—they knew the teachings were good and ﬁne and wonderful and good for them. They would believe in decrees, believe in the violet ﬂame. But some part of them would be rebellious and say, “I don't want to do this,” or “My karma is so great that I'll just live out my life and choose the second death because I don't want to have to go back and crisscross the world and balance that 51 percent of my karma.”

I've been here a long, long time and I've seen this attitude, and it's a very bad attitude. It's almost saying, “OK, God, I've enjoyed myself in your universe. I've been around. I've been in various solar systems. I've done this and that. I've spent my life force. Now I'm going to choose to go through the second death and I'm not going to give you the opportunity to accord me my ascension. I'm going to deny that ascension, because I refuse to work for it because it is too hard and I am not willing to pay the price of perhaps ﬁve hundred years or a thousand years to balance all the karma I have made as I have gone through the world making this negative karma.”

So there is a deﬁance among many people in the earth whereby they make the most of the world, they take the light of the masters. They may go into organizations such as this where people have great light but they themselves know that they are just going to eat, drink and be merry, for they know that tomorrow they will die.

Well, that's one category of people. I don't believe that any of us here is in that category of people. We want to make our ascension. We want to ﬁnd our permanent niche in God, our permanent identity. We want our soul to be made whole so that that soul becomes immortal. The soul is not immortal at this time, as you know. We must go through the ascension process to regain the immortality of our soul.

So there are those who sow and reap. Many of us have sown good and bad karma but when that karma has come around and we have reaped, we have worked, we have put our nose to the grindstone and said, “OK, I've made these mistakes. I understand my human pride. I understand my human consciousness. I know that I have set myself back over the ages, but today I have the violet ﬂame and the ascended masters with me. I'm going to go for it. And if I can exceed the 51 percent and balance my karma to 100 percent, I'm going to do it so that I can go home to God and give my prize on the very heart ﬂame and the heart's altar of my beloved El Morya, who has taken me so far and ultimately to my ascension.”

Do Not Play Games with the Masters

What I am saying is a deep conviction of my soul and that is, I believe that these teachings are correct. I believe that it is entirely true or may be true that at some point in the near or distant future this rod will be removed, ascended masters may go into nirvana for tens of thousands of years, and we will be left to grope around the planet in a materialistic civilization or worse.

This is my understanding. This is my profound awareness that I have from God. And I urge all of you to not take chances in making any more karma. This is the ﬁrst day of the year. I hope it's a clean white page that you can write on. It won't be entirely because you'll be bringing your book of life with you in your knapsack. And so we have that karma that is written that we must balance.

Please do not play games with the masters and say to yourself, “Well, if I do this little thing or do that little thing...” or “I break the rules sometimes but I'm really a good guy, you know. I'm working for the masters. I do a lot for them. They'll look the other way if I decide to just cross the line and do something I really want to do that I shouldn't be doing.” This is really a very bad attitude, a very bad attitude.

Nothing Is Sound or Secure in This World

If you want the whole nine yards, if you want the victory, you have to come to that point of utter humility and realize that nothing is sound or secure in this world. There are the rumblings in the heart of the earth, the upheavals, the enormous quantity of souls who are coming either to the second death or to some other resolution. We go back a long way, with 25,800 years of karma coming through now to when we come to the end of the age of Pisces. That's a long, long time for people to make karma and sometimes an even longer time to balance that karma.

So please, take the opportunity to continue to sow and continue to reap, to sow and reap and sow and reap and to cast your bread on the waters so that after many days that bread may return to you.<3> This is my simple and brief message to you, but I tell you that I have sincere and profound concerns for many who have touched the hem of the garment of beloved El Morya and then gone the other way.

I Am in Embodiment to Help You Make Your Ascension

I want to be with you as long as you want to be on this path, as long as you are determined that this is the hour, this is the century, this is the time of your ascension in the light.

I know that God sent me to you so that I could help you make your ascension. This is the primary reason why I am in embodiment. We may do all things right, but there has to be a certain amount of acceleration in the ascension process. And I always liken it to the runway. The plane comes down the runway. It picks up speed. It comes to the point where it is off the ground. It moves against the pull of gravity and up, up and away—that plane is in ﬂight.

So please don't think that your ascension day is going to be just like any other day of the year or the month. Moving toward that goal, you have to be accelerating right now. Right now. Don't lose time any more. Don't lose that time in your life. We never know when God is going to take us somewhere else, not necessarily because we're ill but because it is our time to move in a different arena to balance karma in a place where we have to be born and start all over and go through that lifetime.

Please understand what are the givens, what are the challenges and what God is saying to us: “I can do so much for you, but you have to do the rest.” We have seen El Morya recently not be willing to take on any burdens from any one. We have seen all of the ascended masters say the same. They are telling us, “You have the teaching. You have the violet ﬂame. You have the dynamic decrees. We need our energy to save souls and to go round the world and to bring them to that point of union with God.”

We've been trained for many, many years. And some of you are new on this path even at this very conference. You can catch up, you can study, you can read and understand the teachings. But know this—that this is the hour, the decade, the century of your ascension. If you have the conviction that it is not, then may you keep your peace and follow what you feel in your own heart.

Guard Your Options: Balance More than 51 Percent of Your Karma

My sense is we should never leave ourselves vulnerable wherein if we want to ascend and we see the ascension as the goal, we cannot do it because we did not balance that 51 percent of the karma. Fifty-one percent of the karma is not enough. I'll tell you why. It's very easy to make a mistake, to have an infraction of the laws of karma, to do something that isn't correct with your Holy Christ Self.

Here is this thermometer going from zero to 51. All of a sudden you look at that thermometer and it says 50, it says 49, it says 48, and you say, “Wait. Wait a minute. What happened? I was up to 51 percent.” Well, think about what you've been doing. Think about what you've been saying about your neighbor. Consider criticism, condemnation and judgment, which is in our minds and we hardly think about it but most people have that somewhere.

It is very easy to make karma, even after the 51 percent. And if you balance 100 percent of your karma, you can still make karma. And so it goes down to 98, it goes down to 94, it might go down to 90. And then you have to say, “Well, you know, I'd better get busy and get back where I was in the ﬁrst place. I must have slipped here or I must have slipped there. And I have to hold my position.” I have to hold that position because if I hold that position and I maintain that 100 percent balance of my karma, then what can I do? I can pull you up. I can pull you up on that rope all the way up to the top or as far as you can go.

So remember your options and remember that you must guard them so that when the moment comes, you can exercise the option. And if you haven't put your money in the bank, the cosmic bank account, if you haven't put the ﬂow of your energies into that account, then what will you do? What will you do? You see, you may have me now. You may have another messenger in so many years or so many decades. But you do need a representative, a go-between, between this level and the hierarchy of light if you're going to make your ascension.

You've heard me say this before. Use me. Please use me. Use me while I'm here because it is my great wonderful love and reason for being to launch you into the absolute God-victory that you deserve. So please do it for Morya if you're not going to do it for yourself.

“The Summit Lighthouse Sheds Its Radiance o'er All the World to Manifest as Pearls of Wisdom.”

This Pearl of Wisdom is from a lecture by Elizabeth Clare Prophet given on Wednesday, January 1, 1997, at the ﬁve-day conference A World Vigil for Youth: The Ascended Masters' Rescue Mission for the Youth of the World, held at the Royal Teton Ranch, Park County, Montana.

1. Wesak. A Buddhist festival commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and Parinirvana (ﬁnal nirvana) of the Buddha—all of which occurred on the full-moon day of the month of May. (See Pearls of Wisdom, vol. 26, no. 4, pp. 33-36.) Buddhists around the world celebrate Wesak with presentations of the Buddha's teaching, reﬂection on his life, processions and ceremonies, prayer and chanting, and charitable deeds. It is a time for the sacriﬁce of the elements of the lower nature so that the higher nature of God may descend into one's temple. The celebration is not only a historical commemoration but also a reminder to each one of the possibility and necessity to become enlightened. Esoteric teachings tell us that at the hour of the full moon in May, disciples and bodhisattvas, angels and elementals gather in a valley in the Himalayas to receive the benediction of Lord Gautama. Some say that the Buddha is seen physically by certain adepts and devotees as he brings his blessings to the earth. He addresses his disciples throughout the world, contacting them on the many planes of their evolving consciousness and blessing all life as his ﬂame encompasses the earth.
