Meeting Your Inner Master
Part 3

We are studying Mark Prophet’s lecture “Meeting Your Inner Master” and we have reached the place where Mark is saying, “We have within us a divine ego, a divine id, a divine identity.”

You can liken the id to the true desiring, the God-desiring of the desire body. The divine identity you can think of as the I AM Presence, the divine ego as the Holy Christ Self. In any case, these are the levels of manifestation of the mind of the inner Master.

Mark says, “The first thing the master does to us is to introduce us to our divine identity.”  That is what I would have done had I the occasion to meet this young man. I would have introduced him to the voice of his I AM Presence. But his own voices were too important to him. Supposedly, they had saved him by giving him directions at various points in his life.

He was too frightened to let go of the lesser for the greater. If we have leaned upon the human consciousness or the psychic realm for centuries and suddenly we have to go to a place where we are alone in the cosmos, alone with the stars, it can be a frightening experience. To have the experience of being outside the sphere of the Matter cosmos, with no one else there and no other sound, you have to have oneness with the inner Master.

This person had all the support of the Community, yet he was not willing to let go. You see, God does require you to let go of something in order to take his hand. Just imagine if you were holding onto the realm of the psychic and God took your hand. The psychic realm would get the energy of God through you—what God gave you would flow right through you. Well, God can’t do that. God is not going to feed the sinister force. That’s why we should meditate on the First Commandment.

The Power of Intercessory Prayer

Mark goes on a long time about intercessory prayer. What you finally realize is that when we pray, our Holy Christ Self takes the prayer, rewords it properly according to the will of God (because we ask for that in every prayer) and then offers it to the I AM Presence as an acceptable offering.

Our Holy Christ Self is the intercessor and the mediator who makes certain that our communications to God are appropriately addressed. So what we are really saying here is that when you ask someone to pray for you, it is their Holy Christ Self who offers the prayer. By teaching us this, Mark shows us that we can meet the inner Masterevery day of the week when we contact someone’s Christ Self. He’s showing that the inner Master is really the common denominator of the living Christ in all of us.

Nevertheless, he won’t tell you this right out. He talks about the people who decreed and then both he and I got better. Then he talks about the devout Catholic ladies who prayed for their sick dog. Their dog was healed and their flowers were immortalized and they were very devout women.

They had a miracle happen to them. They were accountants and storekeepers who were being framed by the Mafia. The Mafia had put illegal money in one of their bank accounts and in this way they were framed. One of the ladies had to go to jail for a year or more. They were really tormented.

Eventually the sheriff put a lock on their store—a bridal store and a flower store—containing everything they owned. Their most precious possession in the world was a statue of Mother Mary overlaid in gold. I think some of it was 18-carat gold and some was 24-carat gold. It’s the statue that is in Kuan Yin’s Chapel today. They worked very hard to earn the money to be able to cover it with gold.

The Mafia figure became very threatening, very loud and very demeaning to them. He said he was going to take the statue and melt it down, just because he hated their devotion to Mother Mary. So they telephoned me and told me this story and I said, “This is absolutely terrible. I am going to go and pray in the tower.”

I prayed all day to Mother Mary for a miracle--that the Mafia man would not be able to confiscate the statue. And it happened that the police came to their house and said, “We’re going to open your store for a brief time in case you need to get something out of it.”

So they called us up quickly and we ran over with a truck, loaded the statue of Mother Mary onto the truck and brought it back to La Tourelle.     And these sweet ladies, these sisters, said, “We want to give you the statue because we know it was your prayers that freed the statue. Our stipulation is that she will always be displayed where everyone can see her.” <1>

They had made a crown for her, which I trust is yet on her head, a beautiful crown made out of crystal. All our prayers, however, did not keep the one sister out of prison, but I can tell you, if there ever were living saints, it was these ladies. And if ever you met an inner Master that was integrated with the soul and the outer being of someone, it was in these ladies. They were just the sweetest sisters you could ever want to meet.

The Seed of Light

Mark talks about Dostoyevsky. He talks about the leper—how we should embrace the leper and find the Christ. He talks about the merit of being worthy to receive the flame of life. And what he’s really saying here is if you can meditate on the flame of life within anyone, then you will be contacting the inner Master.

Mark took the dictations on “The Mechanization Concept.”  He knew about the robot creation, the laggards, the fallen angels, the Nephilim and the Watchers. But he’s telling us that there once was a point of contact in everyone, even if that point of contact and seed of light has now gone.            Somewhere, sometime in the beginning, God placed a point of light and a seed of light in each one. And you can, by the love of the Ruby Ray—which is a fierce love and a fearless love—contact that point of the original endowment of God. Perhaps even now if you contact that point, even if that endowment has been taken up and is in another octave because the person is evil, you are contacting what was once the inner Master.

Hold on to that teaching, because you may have to deal with such an individual. You may have karma with such a one, and the only way you can deal with the karma is to find that point, that kernel, that seed that remains undefiled even if it has been withdrawn.

I Am the Slave of the Light

Mark talks about one’s motive in meeting a master. Perhaps it is to find somebody to do something for you like Aladdin and his magic lamp—“I am the slave of the lamp. Whatsoever you desire I will do for you.”

For the first time, in reading those words I realized today that Mark is talking about the Ascended Master who says, “I am the slave of the light. I am the slave of the Mighty I AM Presence. Whatsoever you desire that is consistent with the law of the I AM THAT I AM, I will do.”  This is a definition of the science of decrees.

One day I chuckled to myself and said in my heart, “Morya, I really need a genie.” Then I laughed out loud because I realized that my genie was El Morya himself and every other Ascended Master, because when it’s at all possible for the Ascended Masters to answer our call, they surely do.

What Mark used to chuckle about is how people ask for blessings and then include all of humanity just to make sure it sounds like a good prayer. He also used to talk about people who would come along and say, “Mark, if I had a million dollars I would give it all to you.”  Then these people would come into money and you wouldn’t see a penny of it.         It’s amazing how people who are poor will give away the universe but when the universe falls into their hands, they have other obligations. So this business of personal benefit is very much tied to the desire to meet the master, and that benefit begins on the three o’clock line—pride.

It is the pride of being able to say, “I have a Master. I’ve met a Master. I’ve seen the Master. I’ve walked and talked with Babaji in the flesh. I know where he is in the Himalayas. He said this to me. He gave me these instructions,” and so forth.

Is Maitreya Giving Us a Lesson?

One’s motive is always purged by the great love of God, but when it comes to association with the Great White Brotherhood, we don’t see our pride. We don’t see our rebellion. If you really want to know whether you have that substance, ask God to show it to you.   I may not necessarily see your pride either, and that’s why there’s a Guru-chela relationship and that’s why there’s a Community. The traits of consciousness, the conditions of consciousness that make you and me unacceptable to the inner Master come out in the very course of the work.

“My Father worketh hitherto, and I work,” <2> and as we work with one another, as we get under a department head who we think is a fool or an ape or a bozo who doesn’t know what he’s talking about and we know much more than he does, we forget that we came to Maitreya’s Mystery School. And if we choose to serve here, we will serve under the person nearest to us in the stage of our karma and the stage of our dweller.

We may think that we’re much smarter and better than he is but, as a matter of fact, he is the best medicine we’ll ever have because if we do it right he will bring us humility and expose our human stubbornness.

People who have been around a long time get outraged because another staff member may comment on what they’re doing or not doing. Yet I have encouraged every staff member to treat others equally, to gently remind one another when someone is in a wrong vibration and then to accept a correction from that one’s Holy Christ Self.

We want to be certain that we give that correction in love,

but even if somebody comes along and bawls you out or criticizes you in a harsh manner and it’s not done well, learn from that person. I have made my enemies my, quote,  “masters” and have listened to every last thing a self-styled enemy has said against me or about me and evaluated it objectively. Forget about the hatred that came with it or the condemnation. Is this or is this not true?  Is Maitreya giving me a lesson?

One of the very first lessons I got from Mark Prophet that came through El Morya was “If the Messenger be an ant, heed him.”  We love the saying but we still have to obey it. You never know who is the instrument and best friend of your own inner Master who tells you something that upsets you tremendously and causes you to say, “How dare you speak to me in that manner!”

If you see yourself having that kind of a reaction to someone, that is when you start identifying pride. It can be when something is said to you that you really can’t take because you are insulted.

So meeting the master is not only meeting your point of limitation but it is also having to meet the master in unexpected places. It can come with the most unexpected points of wisdom that someone gives you, even though you think that person knows nothing about the teaching and came in yesterday. All of a sudden you hear a message from your inner Master that you haven’t heard in all the twenty years you’ve been around. This is one of the things that Mark is really trying to get home to us.

Do We Have a Sense of Self-Worth?

Mark talks about wrestling with the angel. He talks about the unjust judge and he talks about making a call to the master and then just letting it go--asking a couple of times but not being persistent. He says many people just don’t prevail upon God long enough or hard enough.

I think we do that. When we seem to get no answer, we drop our prayers because of our absence of self-worth. Even if you haven’t seen the inner Master or had a visitation of your Holy Christ Self, your sense of self-worth, your position as an advocate before the bar of justice, before God, should make you pray again and again and again for what you know is lawfully yours--with the proviso, “Nevertheless, not my will but thine be done. Adjust this prayer according to what is best for me and the lessons I have to learn.”

Mark is saying that if you think that meeting your inner Master is really a chance for you to get things you can’t seem to get any other way, this should show you that there are other ways to do it. You don’t really have to bother the master.

He talks about asking a master to find a parking place for you, when really what you have to learn is that your own Mighty I AM Presence is powerful enough to do everything that you might ask from a master. Somehow the Mighty I AM Presence is set aside while we look for a relationship that has quite a bit to do with ego.

The ego is very well served when it sees that a master is catering to one.   The Masters don’t spoil us and I thank God that El Morya has never spoiled me. Too much attention from the Master and we could become rotten eggs. That’s the truth of the matter.

So if you want to find the inner Master, the conclusion is to go to your Mighty I AM Presence and make the calls, and what will happen is that you will become the master. You will not be able to say, “This is my inner Master. He lives inside of me somewhere and this is me here walking around.”  You will be the master.

I think that the ultimate lesson of this teaching is that Mark is saying the only way you’re going to meet your inner Master is to become that master. He got close to saying this but he never quite said it—become God yourself.

“We Need an Auditorium to Seat Thousands”

Mark says, “The Great White Brotherhood is very deeply committed to emancipating man from his decrepit ideas, and that includes me.”   Then he talks about an auditorium in Colorado Springs “to seat thousands, even though we don’t have thousands. Do you see the point?”

I am sure nobody saw the point. Mark used that phrase a lot in his lectures, “Do you see the point?”  But the point was that if each of us who were listening to him in that room had become an inner Master, we as a nucleus at La Tourelle would have drawn people from all over to fill an auditorium. The truth is the Ascended Masters are waiting for us to meet and become our own inner Master, and on that basis we will have our expansion.

However, this is a very odd thing to suddenly bring in here. It comes out of left field. All of a sudden he says, “This is a retreat of the Great White Brotherhood. The teachings of the Great White Brotherhood need to be spread abroad in this town and we need an auditorium to seat thousands.”

We had a very small membership at that time so why does he say this in the middle of a lecture?  If you trust the Messenger and trust his source, you have got to ponder each new subject in every tape you hear and say, “How does this connect with meeting the inner Master?  Why did he bring that up now?  He knew very well that we couldn’t fill an auditorium in Colorado Springs.”

Then he says: “Surely the day will come. We know it will come. And it will come because we do something about it.”      Well, we did fill an auditorium in Pasadena. We have filled our tent in the Heart with five thousand people. We have filled halls all over the world. And we did do something about it. This is one of those statements that have such profound meaning because Mark doesn’t say anything he doesn’t mean and doesn’t do.

It is December 31, 1971. He’s got two years and two months left in embodiment. He knows very well what he’s going to do about it. He’s going to pull the ripcord. He’s going to decide to answer the call of the Lord and make his ascension so he can come back to us as an Ascended Master.

Then he can put his Ascended Master Electronic Presence over me and over everyone else who prepares him a forcefield and he’s going to go around one by one by one through his chelas until he multiplies us to the point where we not only fill an auditorium, we fill the tent of the Lord.

That’s what Mark did about it; he acted on what he saw. It’s a very touching thing for me to find this little passage in this lecture. “Surely that day will come. We know it will come. And it will come because we do something about it.”

Then he talks about Colorado Springs. And the fact of the matter is that everywhere we moved our headquarters has grown tremendously in population. People come to the light. Right now, all of a sudden, the whole world is moving to Montana. Bozeman has a construction boom.

It’s not because they’re seeking the inner Master. Mark explains what it is. It’s like moths flitting around the flame and because they have no Deathless Solar Body, they enter the flame and are consumed. Yet the true lightbearers do come and do find their way.

Mark continues: “As I see it, the power and presence of the masters’ intentions for humanity need and require implementation. I see that implementation as a growth in your Spirit and in mine.”    Our Spirits have to grow, fanned by the fires of the Holy Spirit that come to us so directly through Mark Prophet because we have the lectures that he gave just days and hours before his ascension. This is somewhat different from reading other masters, whose books were written hundreds of years ago; these are so personal to us.

“And therefore the role of meeting our master is quite magnificent.” And so he goes on to tell us about El Morya’s miracle and how he met the Master. And from there on I would suggest that you build on what I’ve given to you as keys to unlock this lecture.

Make an outline from it and include the points that you have personally realized from it. That’s actually your inner work, your inner notebook. If you want to give this teaching about the inner Master, I suggest you play the tape for someone but do not oversimplify it by doing what I just did by giving the reasons why he said what he said.

Let the teaching and the truth germinate in people. Don’t tell it all in one night, as Mark Prophet would say, because people only need one meal at a time. Mark’s lectures, when listened to by yourself, will give you the experience of walking and talking with the Master.

One call I have made consistently, almost daily, is the call to El Morya and to Lanello that they should point out to me, and bind and take from me, where possible, whatever in me might be offensive in their sight. Because I know, as Morya has said, “No man knoweth the measure of himself.”  We cannot see our imperfections and the flaws that may be burdening the Master we love the most, for they are subjective.

If you make this prayer while you listen to the tapes of Mark Prophet, if you remember that at the beginning or the conclusion of Astreas you need to sing Lanello’s song, he will come and tutor you through his very own lectures. And as you grow and grow through that, you will find when you look in the mirror that you will see your inner Master.

Thank you.

“The Summit Lighthouse Sheds Its Radiance o’er All the World to Manifest as Pearls of Wisdom.”

This is the conclusion of the Messenger’s teaching on Mark L. Prophet’s lecture, “Meeting Your Inner Master,” given to Summit University Winter Quarter 1992 on January 30 and February 7, 1992, at the Royal Teton Ranch, Corwin Springs, Montana.

1. On another occasion, the Messenger added this information about the statue: “We saw that a gold statue in this form had been erected in the temples of Mu and that the sisters had been instrumental in securing this gold figure of the Divine Mother on Lemuria. The same people who had opposed them then in the establishing of that shrine to the Divine Mother again opposed them today.”
