Celebrating the Sangha and the Can-Do Spirit!
by Rev. Jaspal Soni and Rev. Lois Drake
The summer months (May-August) in Delhi tend to get very hot and humid with temperatures soaring typically above 110 degrees Fahrenheit. To escape the heat, every year Jaspal leaves for his home-away-from-home in Maryland, USA, to spend time with his siblings and attend the summer conference and Summit University at the Inner Retreat in Montana. During the summer, Poonam (Chananda Cultural Society administrative assistant and Keeper of the Flame) continues to keep the home-fires burning at the ashram.
Like every year, much has been going on at the ashram with pre-summer break activities.
We celebrated Mother’s birthday on Sunday, April 7, at the ashram by sending personal invitations to our membership two weeks prior to the event and then calling them a few days before to remind them. People look forward to attending Mother’s birthday every year. It has become a tradition for our members to celebrate it with great enthusiasm and to have a good time in the spirit of community.
We prepared a small colorful booklet with a couple of songs, including Mother’s keynote, Beautiful Dreamer. We also gave a few short decrees. During the service, it always helps to explain the meaning of certain words in songs and decrees because people here are not very familiar with the ascended masters’ terminology. Our experience has shown that it is helpful to share the basic teachings about the Chart of the I AM Presence, violet flame, threefold flame and the science of the spoken word in every gathering because they are the pillars of the teachings.
It turned out to be a nice day with mild winds blowing and temperatures in the upper eighties. The service began shortly after 3:00 pm. Many old and new members came, including a few from the recently held workshops in Delhi.
The altar was decorated beautifully with colorful flowers and a lighted picture of Mother. The brief sermon included reading excerpts from the books, “In My Own Words” by Mother and “On Fire for God” by Alex and Margaret Reichardt. The birthday cake was beautifully decorated. Mother’s tangible presence was felt everywhere. People seemed to enjoy basking in the light and nurturing their physical bodies with delicious Indian refreshments afterwards.
On behalf of the Chananda Cultural Society, we offered everyone a birthday gift from Mother which was a 2019-2020 desk calendar carrying 12 pictures of the ascended masters—one for each month of the year. Each page also displayed an ascended master quote of the month from the Pearls of Wisdom®.
Last summer, we recorded the song to Beloved Chananda in the Hindi language at a professional studio in Delhi. Last week, we recorded two more songs from the TSL Song Book in Hindi: the I Love You Waltz to Saint Germain and I AM the Violet Flame. The recordings sound very good with the tabla (Indian drum) music playing softly in the background. We are planning to continue recording more songs in the future.
In late March and April, we conducted a few workshops in and around the Delhi metropolitan area. A first-of-its-kind workshop was held at the Noida Community Center. Noida is a suburban township of Delhi located in the adjoining State of Uttar Pradesh. The event was held on Wednesday, March 27 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. It was a God-Victorious event attended mostly by the local senior citizens.
On Saturday, April 13, we visited the Jaipur study group, a city located about 5 hours away by train. We have been visiting Jaipur twice a year to nurture a small group of devotees there for the past two years. By God’s grace, the group has become stronger. They testified to the effectiveness of doing decrees on their own on a regular basis.
As always, we thank you deeply for your kind support in furthering the mission of the masters in India. We look forward to seeing many of you at the Inner Retreat this summer!
