How I Came to the Teachings

By Imma Binnie

When I was in my mid-twenties I was interested in looking into new age groups, including the spiritual Findhorn community in Scotland, where I had spent three weeks the previous summer. Early in 1988, I got the prompting that I wanted a spiritual teacher. I really wanted it to be a female teacher (father issues).

I bought the book Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, and was a little disappointed that he was male, but read it anyway and was soon very fascinated. A few weeks later, while reading the book on the train, a lady sitting opposite to me pointed at the book and started talking about it. Then she started telling me about Fatima, Portugal and Saint Germain saying that keepers of the flame had to leave Europe. I did not know what she was talking about but she gave me a Heart magazine.

A few weeks later I went to England, because the company I worked for as a secretary moved there. There were problems with the logistics of the new building. Not all the rooms were ready and there were hardly any office supplies, and suddenly there were a lot more managers coming to me for work that needed to be typed into the computer. I was swamped and was stressed out by the unreasonable expectations that were put on me. I had to take a few days off and in my suitcase I saw the Heart magazine. I read it and was fascinated by it. Then I started to do the decrees and mantra of the healing matrix and the simple violet flame decrees. To my big surprise they made me feel a lot better. I kept on doing it a few times a day from then on and my energy level was restored and it made me feel happier and stronger.

When my assignment in England was over and I came back to Holland, I looked up the Summit Lighthouse organization and discovered that they had a weekend conference going on at a community centre. I decided to go and check it out. I arrived earlier and heard a strange humming sound behind a closed door, which I had never heard before. I was very attracted to it and just had to find out what it was, so I opened the door a little. They were doing Astrea’s which I did not know about yet, but my inner child was very happy.

I went to the lecture and they talked about Elizabeth Clare Prophet having visited Fatima. I still did not really know what they were talking about or what was going. Then came a dictation.

I listened and soon started nodding off into a sleep. I don’t know how long I was in that state, but suddenly someone was shaking me awake. I was a bit shocked about it, especially because it was not a physical shaking but someone was pulling on my crystal cord! It physically felt like that. I opened my eyes wondering who could have done that and saw Jesus in front of me. He looked at me peacefully and then he was gone. I do not remember anything about the dictation, but I shall never forget that experience.

The biggest message that I remembered when the day was finished, was that we all had to pray the Rosary every day, and Mother Mary would help us to emigrate to America. Walking out of the hall, my human mind said: “I will never be able to pray a Rosary everyday” (I was not a person with a lot of self-discipline). Suddenly a loud voice said: “Yes you can!” I was shaken up again. The voice was loud, but came from above! I looked around and nobody looked at me, so they had not heard it. The voice had great authority like it was God’s voice. I felt I had better obey and I try to do it every day. For the next month or two I kept on doing the simple decrees and went to a new people’s class, which helped a lot and we could ask all our questions.

Then the time came when the leader asked if we wanted to come to the summer conference in Montana. He explained what happened there and how special and great it was. I was very undecided for a while. I had saved up money, but I could also go back to the Findhorn community in Scotland. I just did not know what to do and made the calls. At a certain moment I had a vision. I left my body and went up really high. I saw two men in white robes discussing my case. I heard them say: “Yes, she is ready now.” At that moment I knew that they meant that I was ready to come into the teachings. This was for me the affirmation I had been waiting for and I booked a plane to go with a group of Dutch Keepers to the 1988 summer conference.

It was indeed a wonderful experience and more than that. It was cosmic to be able to listen to Mother’s lectures, her teachings, to get introduced to Lord Maitreya, the Kuan Yin Rosaries, etc. I became a Keeper of the Flame and got baptized by Mother. Camping in the Heart was a joyous adventure with very hot weather, huge downpours and cold nights, but nobody cared too much because we all seemed to be lifted up on a happy etheric cloud.

I never looked back ever since. I got my emigration papers to Canada about six months later, and on July 4th, 1989 landed at the Calgary airport to stay! I am forever grateful to Mother Mary for having made that possible for me and to all the Masters who have guided me on my path, and still do.
