Let’s face it. Sticking with our commitments and resolutions isn’t easy. The higher we aspire, the tougher the climb. We all tend to slip a little (or a lot!) now and again. When that happens, we can lose momentum, and sometimes fall off the rails altogether…for a time. Why? Because we have an all-too-human tendency to kick ourselves when we’re down…to harshly judge, even condemn ourselves when we trip and fall. And the dark voices of discouragement and despair like nothing more than to remind us how unworthy we are.
But that’s a lie! Yes, it may feel a little tougher to get back on track and resume our trek when we stumble, but the truth is, we are absolutely worthy to make the climb, no matter how often or hard we fall.
So what do we do? Simple.
We remind ourselves constantly that we are loved by God unconditionally! That’s why we must turn the tables on the temptation to believe we don’t measure up and remember two things.
One, we are totally worthy of the reward we seek, despite our human foibles.
And, two, every stumble, every trip and fall, every momentary departure from the path is an opportunity to learn, to grow and to remember that we can always rely on the ever-present Love and Light of God to sustain us at every point on the path.
So when you fall, get up. And when you get up, say a prayer. Invoke the violet flame…and move on. There’s no need to carry the weight of past mistakes any longer than necessary, which is why the ascended masters always admonish us to Keep on keeping on!
