The Buddhas in Winter

New Year’s Retreat, Dec 29th – Jan 1st

“So, beloved, let us get down to the things in life that are important: Work on your threefold flame. Love your Christ and everyone else’s. Listen to the words we speak and hear what they really mean. Treasure every communiqué from our octave. Love one another as I have loved you and will always love you.”
—Lord Maitreya, Pearls of Wisdom, vol. 43, no. 47, November 19, 1989

General Information

How to Get Here?

Transportation

Airport/Bus/Rental Cars

Bozeman airport has regular flights and rental cars available.  Bus lines drop off passengers at Bozeman and Livingston bus depots. Bozeman is a 1.5 hour drive from the ranch. Arrange your own transportation from these drop-off points to the ranch or see below.

Limited transportation by van service to the Ranch will be available from December 27 through January 2. Vans leave Bozeman airport at noon and 6pm each day, also picking up passengers at the Comfort Inn in Bozeman and Bozeman and Livingston bus depots. Reservations for these dates are required by December 15. For reservations, e-mail  RAmrhein@TSL.org with all your travel details or call 1-800-323-5228 and leave a detailed message. DEPARTURE TIMES for vans to Bozeman Airport and both bus stations will vary. Please contact Richard Amrhein upon arrival at the Ranch to arrange your departure transportation.

At the time of your arrival pickup, please pay the Transportation Reimbursement cost (cash only) for both arrival and departure to the driver: $60.00 one way per adult to or from Bozeman and $35.00 to or from Livingston. We ask you to please bring ONLY  one suitcase and your carry-on due to limited space in the van. There will be a $10 surcharge for each suitcase after the first one. For all other arrivals and departures, please plan on making your own transportation arrangements.

How to find our van driver at the airport

Get your luggage at the Baggage Claim. At your van pickup time, be at the airport Baggage Claim area near the kiosk with the hotel phones. The van driver will be carrying a sign that says The Summit Lighthouse Airport Van.

Overnight Accommodation

If you would like to use our van service but arrive at Bozeman airport after the last daily van departure (6pm), you can stay overnight in Bozeman. We have arranged a special rate at the newly renovated Comfort Inn, 1370 N 7th Ave, Bozeman, MT 59715. Phone 1-406-587-2322 or e-mail CMelvin@ComfortInnBozeman.com to make your reservation. Make sure to tell them you are from THE SUMMIT LIGHTHOUSE so you can receive this special rate. The Comfort Inn offers a shuttle from the Bozeman Airport to the hotel until midnight. You must make arrangements for this at the time of booking your accommodation or at least 24 hours BEFORE your arrival time in Bozeman. You will be collected the following day by our van from the ranch and taken to the Inner Retreat. (Remember to make your reservations for the ranch van before December 15.)

Local Van Service

Local Van Service will be available to the homes behind the Lighthouse Restaurant and to Gardiner. There will be NO GLASTONBURY VAN SERVICE.  For taxi service from Bozeman-Livingston-Gardiner, call Greater Valley Taxi at 406-388-9999.

Where to Stay and Eat:

Rental accommodation at the Inner Retreat

Limited individual rooms are available for rent at Ranch Headquarters (near King Arthur’s Court). To request a room, send an e-mail to RTRRentals@TSL.org or call 406-848-9124.

Yellowstone Destinations provides vacation rental homes on the Royal Teton Ranch and nearby in Corwin Springs. Four newly renovated cabins are now available, sleeping up to 4 people, as well as the historic Roosevelt Cabin (3 bedrooms, sleeps 8, no kitchen, bathroom across the parking lot). Or get together with some friends and stay in one of our beautiful vacation homes, which accommodate up to 13 people. See www.YellowstoneDestinations.com for full descriptions, photographs and online reservations. You can also e-mail bookings@YellowstoneDesintations.com or call 1-800-903-1447.

Motels in Gardiner

Gardiner is 8 miles south of the ranch. Make reservations early. See lodging options at www.GardinerChamber.com or call 406-848-7971.

Private homes

Local members offer accommodations in their private homes in Glastonbury, which is a half-hour drive from the ranch. Call Clare at 406-333-4614 or e-mail her at GlastonburyRentals@TSL.org.

Meals at Ranch Headquarters

Healthy meals including vegetarian options will be available for purchase in our cafeteria. Restaurants and grocery stores are available in Gardiner.

Internet and phone service

Due to the location of the Royal Teton Ranch in rural Montana, there are significant limitations in communication options. The only cell service at the ranch is Verizon, and coverage is spotty. No other cell providers operate in the area. Landline phones are available and calling cards can be purchased in the bookstore. Free Wi-Fi is available in the cafeteria building, but the limited bandwidth does not allow video streaming or other resource-intensive use. These constraints are a result of our beautiful but remote location.
