This statement, recorded in Matthew 6:23, has challenged theologians and bible scholars for two thousand years. What does it mean? How can light be darkness?
Hidden within this question is one of the greatest spiritual teachings of all time! The Light of God animates our every thought, word, motive and deed. Using this light makes us literally co-creators with God. How we use this light determines whether our thoughts and actions create good karma…or bad karma.
If we misqualify the light we receive, it turns to darkness. And if we persist in this misqualification, the resulting darkness is multiplied.
When we serve God, our Light grows. But if we choose to serve “mammon” our light diminishes. There can be no compromise, for we cannot serve two masters and hope to gain our immortal inheritance.
To understand the equation of light and darkness, we must learn to see with the eyes of God, choose with the heart of God and think with the mind of God.
